Why would you make a toaster with consciousness? You don't need consciusness to make toasts. The same applies for every other possible industrial application of robots. Consciousness is not needed for any of those tasks. I can't think of any useful activity, no matter how complex, which necessarily requires consciousness for its fulfillment. If strong AI is created by us some day, we will not have the need to put it to work for us. Therefore, it seems very likely that the problem of robot slavery will never really arise.
