In laymen terms - yes. In reality - not exactly. Automated machine is not truly autonomous (it is pre-programmed for a simple task, and can not make decisions in a dynamic environment - that's why you don't find them there). They "act" as much as do the traffic lights - a classical and one of the simplest automation programs.
