The anxiety of technology from 16th century is a poor comparison. Looking at the UK alone, in the 1600s, population was circa 5-6 million people. Today it's around 69 million. Taking into consideration a huge bulk of jobs today are heavily tech based, yes, the A.I. materialisation will definitely have severe consequences on tomorrow's prospects for the vast majority of the community we are all part of. The only optimistic view is that someone, somewhere will find a solution. In the meantime, there will be 'casualties' which won't be pleasant for most.
