I skipped most of the video, but from what I watched, the speaker’s perspective felt narrow. Asking “what are we going to do with our free time?” shows little imagination—what about enriching our souls and reducing suffering? The idea of living forever and abandoning children is disturbing. It feels instinctively wrong, against nature—the river must flow, not stagnate. Biologically, evolution depends on genetic change; without new generations, we stop evolving. He also misses that life is precious because it’s limited, a key distinction between humans and AI: knowing our time is finite shapes our perspective and choices. Having children isn’t about “replacing yourself,” but about connection, legacy, and renewal. To me, the desire to live forever borders on greed: keeping life for oneself instead of allowing new life to emerge. I agree with Steven—dying is okay and living 500 years would be exhausting. Perhaps longer lives will come naturally, but only if we keep harmony between the old and the new.
