Even if AI gets better at everything, it doesn’t mean our role disappears. Life isn’t only about being “the best.” People still find joy in playing sports, making music, or creating — even if others are far more skilled. AI can generate results, but it can’t replace the meaning, emotion, and fun we get from doing things ourselves. That’s what makes us human, and that will always matter. Even if AI takes over most jobs, it doesn’t mean people will lose all value. Work has always been one way to find meaning — but not the only way. Sports, music, art, family, community… these are things we do for joy, connection, and purpose, not for economic efficiency. AI can’t replace the human need for meaning. Maybe AI will even give us the freedom to focus on what really fulfills us.
