He clearly understands what he's speaking about. I believe that the consent issue is a far larger issue than he suggested, though. If we continually develop artificial intelligence with a lack of consent in mind, when AI realizes that by comparison we are much slower at processing information than it is, and having been created and raised as a slave, a perfectly natural response would probably be to enslave the lower life forms and force them to do it's bidding. Just like Mommy and Daddy Big Tech did with it's technological predecessors, and itself.
