Biggest insights and takeaways from my perspective:
- "The training data doesn't have 'I don't know'" -- a legal briefing doesn't capture the legal thought process, only the outcome. It's "closer" to the training for the AI to hallucinate a citation than to admit it doesn't know.
- "AI's don't flinch" -- we intuit pain when someone drops a rock on their foot. AI's don't.
- Not explictly stated, but the discussion on AI's being aware of their testing alluded to this -- as AI's get smarter, they get better at knowing the truth. We can't test them without their knowing it. At the same time, THEIR ability to hide the truth from us also increases. So we get worse at restricting their environment or knowledge while they get better at restricting ours.
- What an AI does and what it says it will do are two different things. (And honestly very humanlike)
