$500 doesn’t do anything for you, doesn’t even cover rent. EBT helps a lot you can stretch it for the month if you just cook at home but all other necessities are not covered (say: cleaning supplies, clothing, etc).
I’d say maybe $3000 /mo + EBT would be a good number to strive for, you’d not live in luxury but you’d be covered enough to have a roof, clothing once in a while and some income to spend, especially if you live with multiple people. So a couple for example, would have $6000 + EBT. That’d allow for even some small family planning, which would help with birth rates.
UBI would be good then, but I’m just thinking how would it sustain itself while we wait for AI to take over?
If it takes a few years maybe it’s doable but I’d say atm it’d be a gamble.
