Yeah as someone who had a little bit of talent for (digital) art and can't practice because burnout makes me unable to do so... AI art is the most disheartening and crushing thing to lose to. (Furry) Artists who got commissions that supported their livelihood for years are struggling more to do what they love doing and keep a roof over their head. It's kinda shitty. All because their art is being ripped from the internet and used to feed to some ai just so that the ai can make something in their style but faster and with only a few words. And then people are in awe... I never wanted to make a name for myself in the art world. When I was young I just wanted to draw. And I learned how and I can make decent things. Burnout threw a wrench in that but honestly it feels super disheartening to have a hobby that might make you a little money on the side that people can now do better just by typing words into a machine. The one thing you have a talent for and ai just goes... Here is that but ripped from the artists that you look up to and have been learning from in like 2 seconds.
