13:58 A similar blow up happened in the writing community in 2023. Kim Palacios (aka Kilby Blade, interim director of NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month) pushed out a post calling people who are anti-AI as ableist and classist. Every single author that had given their time to create content for NaNo on a paid basis immediately called for their work to be removed. Workshops, how to's, just helpful tidbits of any kind... NaNo basically had to scrub their website. They lost most of their sponsors that week. Kim also had the tremendous foresight to post this on Friday evening before she went away to the UK to go to a romance writer's convention, as she's a self published turned traditional publishing romance author (I personally theorize that she uses AI in her work now but I digress). The comments on it were INSANE. So many disabled authors came out of the wood works and chastised NaNo, saying such a stance was dismissive, disrespectful, and harmful to authors. I'm in a Discord dedicated to writing and I'd say most of the writers there are disabled to SOME extent. I, myself, have AuDHD (I'm not alone in this lol). There's at least one system in the group. A couple of people are literally on disability and writing is their outlet. Calling these authors anti-AI caused so many people to crash out and have to step away from their computers because they felt so personally attacked. It's not just AI ARTISTS claiming that shit. Which is really, really, REALLY unfortunate. Any art that can end up on the computer is in jeopardy. Hell, even bakers are getting shit cause they can't recreate AI cakes! Whatever.
