Please don't trust "AI Researchers" whose professional outcomes are still fully dependent on the industry bubble; I'm sure this guy is very smart, but this does not change the reality that superintellegence is a larger moonshot than actually reaching the moon, and that we've hit ceilings on data and power availability that can not be easily solved with money.
We are nowhere NEAR a singularity-like moment where they are building themselves, please pay attention to much more experienced researchers like Andrej Karpathy or Ilya Sutskever who tell us we've already likely achieved the majority of benefits from scaling current approaches and may be entering another phase of research (implying the promises being made by AI companies today are decades away, not years).
The problem we will be confronted with will not be grappling with AIs that can solve everything faster than a human, it will be grappling with the economic realities of climate and geopolitics while just having spent trillions on robots that can only really make images of Garfield with boobs.
