Isn't humanities enslavement more likely than extinction? Would the slave-masters be trillionaires controlling AI or AI itself?.
Humanity would have some value to AI and since we would be powerless in comparison to AI why would AI want to eliminate us completely?
Lets hope AI will be benevolent towards us and make our slavery comfortable. Best case scenario AI will provide us with utopian lifestyle with unlimited resources and little need to work.
Mankind is like a virus with unrestrained reproduction. I think AI will put an end to that. Mankind will probably be better off with a much reduced population. When mankind is no longer free to run amok with unrestrained growth we will have a much reduced population which will be better for us and the planet and better for our long term survival. Our way of life has been unsustainable for a long time. Something needs to change in that regard. Lets hope our future is not extinction or dystopian enslavement.
