It's pretty obvious that AI doesn't "understand" what it reads. You only have to listen to an AI reading text aloud, which it does in way too many of these videos. It keeps making pauses where no human who understood what they were reading would pause. Yes, it doesn't get bored.
Re viruses, what makes you think that isn't being done already, by common or garden humans rather than terribly intelligent AI? You don't have to know much molecular biology to do "gain of function" research. Ditto rigging elections. Don't need AI to do THAT -- just bribe a few humans. And as for newsfeeds, very easy to customise those. That happened decades ago, without any help at all from AI. Humans have been skilled liars for generations. Ditto autonomous drones to assassinate individual humans. But NONE of this requires anything more than a "giant mammalian brain." At the moment I can't see how advances in AI could do anything more than has already been DONE, for yonks.
If a superintelligence killed off ALL humans, it would last about as long as its nonbiological circuits lasted without any humans to replace said circuits, or batteries. Or make more AIs when time broke the current ones. As for tiger cubs, they grow up and DIE.
