Function over Feeling: A "good" life for an animal is one where it fulfills its nature (e.g., a cow grazing, reproducing, and eventually being harvested), deserving respect, but within their functional role, rather than a life where it is treated as if it is a human. The Golden Rule doesn't hang in mid air. We treat others as we want to be treated.. according to their purpose. The reason we don't want AI to eat us is because we aren't food. That is not our purpose. Purpose is given to created beings by their creator. If we want to know our purpose, perhaps we should ask ours.
