I live in San Francisco, California, where just about every car with autopilot / self-driving is tested on our city streets and highways. Tesla is just one of many cars with autopilot that are extremely dangerous to motorcycles, and not just at night in a straight line. One of the most dangerous situations is perfectly legal lane-sharing / lane-splitting / lane filtering. It is legal in California. NOT ONE of the autopilot / self-driving automobiles gives any space to lane-splitting motorcycles, despite the law on the books that drivers are required to do so when practicable. These automobiles are focused on figuring out where the lane is and staying in the dead center of it, and they have absolutely no algorithms written into them to account for motorcycles. The autos are dangerous and to be avoided, unless you have no fear and choose to mess with their sensors while in motion (great fun!)
