Purely tangential, but pop culture has always referenced how AI would become smarter than us…even on this episode of STNG, how AI became smarter than another AI: Professor Moriarty: In "Elementary, Dear Data," the Enterprise computer is instructed to create a holodeck simulation capable of defeating Data, resulting in the creation of Professor Moriarty. This demonstrates the potential for the Enterprise computer to generate intelligent characters with complex deductive reasoning, but it doesn't necessarily mean the computer itself is inherently "smarter" than Data.
