Let's say, for example, the AI predictions never verge into the nightmare scenarios that people and movies fear. If we use simple logic to look forward into time, understanding both what we know AI is capable now and what we know about corporate america and the american government, the future is exceedingly grim. So, what do we know? 1. AI is pretty darn capable of doing mundane thinking and tasks and it is getting better and better. 2. Robotics is getting better and better and doing mundane thinking and tasks. 3. AI and robotics, the combination of reasoning and doing, are already starting to meld into a technology greater than the sum of its parts. 4. Every worker is a combination of a reasoner and doer, working on the behalf of capital. 5. Shortly, there will be very little that the combination of AI and Robotics won't be able to do. 6. Except for the open source models, capital owns and controls the the manufacturing of AI and the robotics. 7. Capital prefers consolidation over partnering. Monopoly is a natural result of capitalism that must be regulated, in order to be avoided. 8. If am industry changing technology comes along, that allows for the maker of that technology to do the thing that the technology replaces, why would the manufacturer sell or license the technology to other companies, when they can use their technology to just replace or subsume said company? 9. When a Google or OpenAI have successfully created an AI that is smarter than almost all humans and that is combined with a robotics platform, instead of selling that technology, why wouldn't they just keep that technology for themselves and diversify into all the different industry sectors that their technology can not only compete in, but dominate? 10. The US government is almost completely corporate captured 11. Government has, more than ever, become a reactive body as opposed to a strategic body. The logical outcome is that we will never find out that "Super Artificial Intelligence" has been achieved, until far after "Super Artificial Intelligence" has been achieved and most likely will assume it, when the handful of super corporations have started diversifying into completely unrelated industries, from their original market sector, and competing with near total artificial workforces, against legacy companies, which will not be able to compete. There will be no reason or way for any new or existing company to compete against the technology that the super corporations will have at their disposal. Quickly shutting down, laying off their workers, the legacy companies will fail to survive. Government will be caught flat footed and hamstrung by their corporate donors, on enacting the needed regulations, to protect the 99.99% of people that don't benefit from the super corporations. Due to the shortsighted greed of the billionaires, corrupt politicians, and the innate defects of capitalism, the world economy will fail due to mankind finally achieving true abundance. The super corporations will be able to design, manufacture, invent, anything, faster and cheaper than any of the non-super corporations. People will no longer need to work, except for the fact that they will need money to survive. Corporations will no longer need workers to operate, except for the fact that they will need customers. Governments will topple quicker than they will be able to correct the disastrous Catch-22 between the super corporations and the people, which would have simply been to realize that the conditions finally put us in a perfect position to transition to socialism. Where the state, which is the people, take control of the corporation and their mechanism for world abundance, and start our move to a world beyond hunger, war, money, etc. etc. etc. That world can never happen, not because of an evil AI that will take over and kill or enslave all humans, but because we will fail to plan and act, until it is too late.
