CNC machinist here and I think I along with welders, millwrights and others doing manual labor we are ALL screwed even before robotics catches up with AI.
AI alone will drive a massive drop in consumption, which means massive drop in demand which means companies (including OUR customers) going down and crashing like a pile of dominoes. And the the economy will collapse pretty much everywhere at the same time so we are all screwed.
There are no safe jobs. That's just ignorance or cope. We need a whole new economic model once AI gets good enough and its improving scary fast now.
