Just a thought but picture this for a moment.
Now I'm not saying this definitely happened but could have possibly happened.
Imagine previous societies from legends such as Atlantis walked this path with a.i. before and it led to a terminator style scenario where almost all of the human race, tried to destroy our history and our cultures.
And eventually something happened at it's core be it a malfunction or a deliberate self induced a.i. end and boom - wiped out itself.
