I hate AI "Artists"/tech bros as much as anyone but I still think it's a good tool that has a lot of use-cases hence I dislike AI poison as much as I dislike AI slop and for profit AI/software. I don't really consider myself an artist but I still like to draw in my spare time with AI involved in the process. what I will do is I will sketch on paper or a tablet using real images for reference then feed it to an open source model running locally on my machine to smooth over the details, fill in the colors, fix my shading (the better the input the better the output) then I will fix everything that doesn't look right and finish it in gimp if it needs text or anything. I like the output. there is nothing more to it. you can't tell AI was used but I also don't hide it. My philosophy is if you can't tell it's AI it doesn't matter that it is, you might still consider it soulless but in that case why poison it ? The real problem is bad AI art. the prompt engineer kind of art. the "look at me I gave text to an AI" kind of person. I think you can use AI and publish it (for free) IF you fix it beforehand.
