People worrying about a super-intelligence taking over are completely missing the point. There's no indication that LLMs like ChatGPT will ever be able to make the leap to becoming true artificial intelligences.
The real "AI apocalypse" ahead of us is the mass incompetence caused by people becoming dependent on hallucinating LLMs to do their thinking and problem solving for them. And the mass unemployment caused by LLMs replacing too many jobs.
