I feel this misses a big problem. Those 5000 deaths could be accurately attributed to the manufacturer. When you have a bunch of law suits saying you killed somebody due to a flaw, manufacturers will not take that risk ever. It’s not about society blaming self driving cars. It is about individual accidents blaming the responsible party that is stopping it.
