The big problem is blue collar jobs and the skilled trades are at least 95% men and are notorious for being very hostile places for women to be in. Sexual harassment is a BIG problem and women who DO take these jobs end up quitting because of the bad behavior of the men. Pipefitters and plumbers are nearly 100% men. And so are electricians. We're seeing a lot of would be hi-tech bros unable to get jobs in hi-tech, a heavily male dominated bro culture industry, moving over to professions that are even MORE male dominated, where there's an even stronger sense of male camaraderie. This is all a fantastic deal for men, but not for women. This leaves almost no options at all for women. Very recently, they've reclassified nursing degrees to a lower status, which will mean a much lower cap on how much financial aid you'll get to go to school to become a nurse. This will shut a lot of women out of a traditionally women dominated profession, making the choices for women even MORE limited. Men are benefiting from this WAY more than women. Also, a lot of blue collar jobs will be automated as well. A lot already have been and many more will be in the next few years.
