You guys are too lost in the sauce with this one. And you are definitely not better than AI bros, that's for certain: both groups miss the core point of both art and art consumption, making arguments that do not make much sense in the overall picture.
I'm an art enjoyer myself, not fanatical about any specific form of artistic expression but I do genuinely get euphoric from some art pieces (be it music, writing, anime art or game design). But I still think that AI art is, first of all, definitely not going to disappear (even more so - it 100% is going to become a norm), and second of all - I don't think that all AI art is automatically equals bad. Not because I'm a tech wannabe, like NFT bros from back in the day, but because it truly does not matter to me through which means an artist expresses themselves and, most importantly, expresses their idea.
Art basically consists of two core components: an idea and an execution. And what I enjoy the most, and what I believe most people value in art the most, is an idea itself. You can argue that execution reflects the idea, and you would be completely right - though you should also consider that the guy behind those pesky AI prompts also has an idea, and those instructions of his can also reflect said idea, doing the same "reflection though execution".
So the end result is all the same - there is a picture that reflects it's artists idea, and an observer that views said idea and judges it.
What difference is there in the execution method in essence?
I'm not talking about technical difficulties with AI art (that's also the reason why I use "real" art as my avatar rn, it's because AI is just not good enough in terms of execution yet. Some ai-assisted art is eerily close though), I'm talking about underlying principle of why people have no problem with AI art if the execution is good enough.
That's not to say "all AI art is going to be great", far from it actually, a lot of it, if not most, is going to be a slop fest from people who have no interesting things to show or say. The thing though, is that right now it's all the same with "the real" art. Majority of "real" artists have nothing interesting to say or show as well, basically copying those ideas from someone else. Look at all that anime girl slop we've had throughout the years, where it's just a generic looking girl (or a character from a show) on a simple background, all of it looking like it's a promo material for another generic 12 episodes romcom harem. There are MANY such artists, it's just that the most popular ones are actually doing at least something right, that's why it feels like there is more great art than there is slop.
Basically what I'm trying to say is - stop being so obnoxious and pretentious, you make yourself look just like those AI bros but just on a different side of a coin. Art by hand (or by mouse) is not going anywhere, it's still gonna exist, but only as a niche way to do things, exactly like what happened to wielding and how there are massive factories that produce both slop and some good artistic things as well as there are still some people who prefer to do everything by hand, and there are people who enjoy those handmade products more as well.
