Totally agree about the inspiration vs copying thing. I myself on occasion use chatGPT to talk about the novel I'm writing, mostly to bounce ideas off someone if no one else is available (And to be guaranteed some positive feedback when I'm insecure about it, ngl), but I would never let AI touch the actual product. The story is mine and mine alone. I guess I would make an exception for quick translations during the work if I want to show it to people who don't speak german, since I can't put in the time to translate it by hand. But again, I would never actually publish it like that.
