Yeh, again the basis of the disquiet about mass surveillance is everything to do with the question, "Who has the information?" If it's a human, of any occupation, that information is ripe for exploitation in very unwelcome ways. It's only a matter of when that surveillance gets abused unethically or immorally. That said, I would fully support a well regulated and unbiased AI controlled system that tracked vehicles, but remains a blackbox of how it works, where information is only kept for 1 month unless within specific conditions. Like a court ordered warrant or an active violent crime with official police response (I'm thinking sirens and multiple cars chasing someone or rushing to scene, not like some random foot chase or other individual officer action). A 1 month track would help PD be able to back trace stuff. Thing is we are still not at the level of technology for that specificity, though I would like to believe we may some day be.
