Businesses are being seduced by the promise of lower costs, but the truth is: the human brain completes multiple complex tasks every day that would take an entire hydroelectric plant to produce the same output from AI. I can power myself on beans and rice. If you only count from our first ape ancestor, that’s millions of years of natural selection along with the extreme starvation events that our anatomically-modern human ancestors survived to create energy efficiency that AI is so far away from replicating. When the electricity costs fully come to bear, businesses are going to be wishing that they had hired and trained people rather than wasting time on the empty promises of Silicon Valley.
