As a leftist, as someone who struggles learning to draw, as someone who, if I were an artist and it were opt-in, would enthusiastically have signed up to have my work used as training data at the first opportunity because I'm in favor of the public domain, as someone who was there for Metallica's backlash against Napster and Anne McCaffrey's backlash against fanfiction, as someone who somehow loses both sides of every argument, to me, the naked hostility toward AI art feels more like gatekeeping than like advocacy for worker rights.
