Fascinating conversation; and yet it does show that rift in terms of generations about how each group does think about certain subjects.
The most clear signal here is that while NdGT positive attitude was in "nobody is taking your job, find another job to do that a machine can't do", was met by what is considered to be "useful", like a robot that makes your bed or laundry.
Won't take a side as I can see value in each opinion, but it clearly show how interest in science and what science should be, has changed in the years and in between generations, which is concerning as these new generations may focus on issues that are quite different from what motivated our society to move forward.
