I'm an artist who uses generative AI.  I don't think most people understand how much digital painting and real artistic work goes into using tools like stable diffusion in a production setting. If you want to tell a story with images, keep a consistent character, use very specific poses and compositions, or any number of other things that are necessary in a real production setting, you actually have to have artistic skill to succeed using AI tools. This technology is still so new and most people haven't tried to use it for art it any kind of rigorous way, so I get why artists are so ready to hate on it. But I really look forward to when more artists start realizing how powerful these tools are for making art. (not just generating a simple portrait shot with a text prompt).
