although I don't like AI art as much as the next guy, i want to have a discussion about AI in general
although environmental impact IS a reason to not like AI, I don't think it's much of a concern nowadays because most companies are engineering their models & infrastructure in a way that isn't harmful as much (e.g. closed loop watercooling).
the reason I personally don't like AI in art is because it's very soulless. AI art isn't art. i don't necessarily hate AI in everything else. like, if you need an AI image for something personal or as a reference for a picture, i'm perfectly fine with it
nowadays, google searches tend to use as much energy as a regular LLM prompt, yet everyone still uses google
