If you live where illegals have been flooded in for decades, apprenticeship has not existed for decades, no "first jobs for young people" exist. The trades are dead and all is at the lowest state of quality possible. Hostility and racism is guaranteed to any non illegals that dare do too good a job at anything lead by the leader racist narcissist all the illegals side with anywhere you go. The 2010's were especially awful for that.
Like if career society was a big union that has now been completely undercut by scabs in every last job. It has been like that for generations, and the time it would take for quality competition and quality jobs and career prospects to slowly be built back up will take a long time even if the practice ended tomorrow.
The ivory tower is whining about ai because it could hit them the same as they allowed illegals to hurt every other career while they were sitting on their smug leftist high horses.
