The Deepfake situation seems awfully prone to the Streisand effect.
And as tech gets better, (again, as Phil points out: It’s the worst it will ever be right now…..) people will be able to generate deepfakes for personal consumption without ever planning on transmitting it on the Internet. How do you police what is effectively a search query without dystopian privacy violations?
The only way to “solve” this permanently, would probably be too destigmatize having naked images of oneself. So that ultimately it wasn’t an attack. It was just a “a thing.
