At some point they will create a super convoluted model, capable of really mimicking any art style. But no model will be able to know what you want. You may describe every pixel but it will never be what your mind sees.
I recently tested both AI and drawing myself. Despite being an amateur at both, I found that drawing was both faster and matched better with what I saw in my mind (note: it was pretty much fanart so the AI was supposed to have a bonus of having "seen" the original character).
Honestly, one use of AI that may be ok is getting a rough estimate of what you want (e.g. for posing), but even that is worse than posing reference models in blender and tracing over.
But both are really just crutches, I use the latter cuz I suck at figuring out any semblance of layout :3
