I truly don’t understand why they say AI helps them “express themselves” Like Is the process of art not what lets you express yourself? That’s like saying that having *someone else* sing a song *they* made is how *you* express *yourself* That’s why it’s soulless. It doesn’t have your frustrations and anger, it doesn’t have your experience of feeling small or like you’ll never reach an insurmountable goal you wish to achieve It’s fluff at best. Even then, it doesn’t have your joy. It doesn’t have the little details that make you happy “Llamas in bikinis” is so empty when it’s just generated. There’s an artist I follow who draws stuff like that (tigers in sweaters, for example) and the style is simple but it has so much more heart than anything that could be shat out. Another artist who does similar art has shaky, dotted lines, which is a choice she made because she has an awful tremor in her hands. And you know what? That “flaw” makes her art so *expressive* Even when it’s just drawing her guinea pigs, it says so much about her. How can you express yourself if you’re not *doing* it??
