This technology is not comparable to any that has come in the past, in my opinion. Past technologies still required humans to be part of the loop in new and different ways.
Just wait until true recursive self-improvement of AI systems begins. Some jobs will remain, most will go - the economic reality is that the cognitive cost of human-equivalent (or better) labor is trending towards zero, and fast.
