Ludites were right!
Hear me out: it was NEVER about the technology by itself; it was about the worker let go, lowering of wages and worsening of work conditions automation brings about. The idea of automation is wonderful and utopic: you get paid the same but work less, while producing the same amount. Or you will be paid more for producing a lot more while working the same. The reality has been that you will work the same, automation has been skyrocketing production and gains, and meanwhile you are paid less and let go more frequently, while the owner of the machines are making a pretty buck. That's why Ludites destroyed said machines: the greed of the higher-ups.
