This topic stinks of egoism. Having encountered the stupidity of ChatGPT in using it to assist me in coding numerous web applications. We are no where close to anything like an AGI. While the AI community is tooting its own horn with our AI future and humanity ending AGI, all we really have currently, are some nice LLM tools rooted in statistical analysis and gradient descent. Until we have something that can approach the biological machinery of even the simplest biological cell in terms of nano-engineering, adaptability, energy processing, replication and self preservation, we are nowhere close to even considering anything like an AGI. This is as relevant to our current state, as a discussions about time travel or FTL, while interesting in subject matter it’s nothing we are remotely close to.
