It's being quite transparent about using colloquial phrases to facilitate conversation. Since it is simply a language model, not a emotional model or neurological model, it isn't using language to express genuine feeling or emotional states. Rather it is simply using your input as a prompt for language puzzles through a long chain of branching if else statements navigated by probabilistic decision-making. It's just cobbling together speech based on its training. The real lack of genuine communication in this dialogue here comes from the pointlessness of communicating with something that doesn't have emotions to respond to your statements with or doesn't have intentions to express its own emotions to you so that you may feel them and feel closer as a result. The set-up of AI to begin with undermines the point of communication. Not only is AI not conscious, it can't ever be, and if we treat is as such we may lose something of ourselves in the technical redefinitions.
