The problem is really the polarization of the discussion, something you see even in conversations like these. It leads to a lot of these 'the other guys just don't get it' sentiments. Each galvanized front refuses to have meaningful dialogue and thus really doesn't know things the other side knows, and then we get this sort of flowering of convenient assumptions and speculation.
I highly recommend you guys step into some AI art communities and talk to some of the folks there, there's a lot to be learned.
