This is basically the same argument used with nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, it comes down to a simple "if it is not us, it will be them". Call me an optimist, but we are doing a fine job handling the threat of nuclear war considering we are still alive. So yes, I think AI weapons will sneak its way into our planet. The only thing that I have to say is worrying is that this kind of weapon puts pressure on the *2nd amendment* and its utility. In the case of a tyrannical government we have the option to rebel with arms, and that is still very effective even with the current technology in the military considering that the military soldiers who are part of the tyrannical government are not brainless drones and can decide "no i am not going to kill my own Americans, I'll join the resistance instead". This raises the questions, what if these soldiers are literally drones? should we include weaponized AI under protection of the 2nd amendment? or will those who defect from the military also take with them their subordinate drones (kind of like how they would bring tanks or other tech, in a contemporary scenario). We will just have to wait and see exactly how this plays out before jumping the gun.
