I find it odd that so many people are stuck on the notion of "We'll lose our job to automation". If every mundane industry (I.E. Transit, Manufacturing, Construction, etc) is replaced by automatons, then that frees up the time of Humans altogether to freely chase something innovative or arty. Capitalism is dying. While it was advantageous during/since the industrial revolution, it is no longer an efficient way of life. This is proven by the current progression of things. So many of us are stuck in the belief that we need the currency (dollar, rupee, etc) we've been abiding by for the past century, but it's simply not the case anymore. Remove that "chase" for said currency and replace it with literally any other meaningful ideology and it can come to fruition, just as the monetary currency we "depend" on came to the fray. Paper currency was widely rejected for many decades before it was accepted and adhered to. I foresee a day when humans are collaborating and innovating as a whole to strive towards a interplanetary colony rather than collectively worrying about their paycheck that provides them to live day-by-day. The majority of us are not the 1%, we are running in circles due to this system we subscribe to. What are y'alls thoughts? Edit: Now, I realize some if not most will pose the question: "How would we live without a currency?" We could, as a species, transition to skill share or communal trade, similar to olden times prior to capitalism/any-other-ism. I'm not particularly a fan of "Universal Basic Income" but it's a thoughtful system that could be modified. One hard thing to tackle is the transition from "money" that provides finite resources to a system that doesn't. It would take a radical effort to move away from that and provide those finite resources contingent upon some other type of reward (I.E. Motivation, Greed). I think to start any of those, the collective mindset/nature of Humans needs to steer away from self-interest/greed and more towards a voluntary desire to do better and/or see your fellow Human prosper.
