If AI realizes that the planetary systems, keeping all life on earth viable, is crucial to even their own long term existence? We are goners! Then again... we are goners if we continue to obliterate the very systems we depend on... so heck, maybe the AI will do a better job! Actually AI probably WOULD do a better job at preventing the extinction of everything.
