I have a genuine question. Imagine that everyone comes together and we fix this major issue, imagine that everyone agrees not to use copyrighted material, all existing AI model will be pruned or retrained without the art of the artist that did give consent, and everyone will from that point on only use art with explicit consent. Just imagine this future.
Will this be enough for artist? Keep in mind, the only thing this does is slow down the training process. AI can only get better, so the more artist are paid to opt-in the better this AI will get, and perhaps it will not have the specific style of Sam or Greg but right away but over time it will train with enough style that will merge to these or get super close. Will this be enough?
