The proboem is not the software itself. Nothing is 100%. What was done WRONG is the facial recognition is NOT suppose to be used to arrest someone alone. Only used with other things gained during the investigation. Its the same exact thing with DNA. If they hit your DNA for a murder (example) they can not immediately arrest you. They have to see if you lived in the area it that time, did you know the person? Had you been to the area of the crime? Were you at work? Not only that but they got your DNA from you by voluntarily or by warrant and run it AGAIN. Just in case of anything being mishandled at the lab. Facial recognition is just a tool. Like a lie detector. Someone can fail a lie detector but you can not arrest someone in it. You have to put them at the crime, motive, some fact based evidence. If it recognizes someone as a suspect the police need to do a background. Were you in the country? The state?? Some of those can be found out without the person ever even knowing they were a suspect. Well this person was serving in the army at this time. Can not be him. Heck. The person could be and identical twin and it has happened. Identical twins have the same exact identical hand prints and foot prints, DNA. You can not distinguish the two because they are in fact the same. A partial DNA might link you to their offspring or sibling. The investigators know better. Not police. They make arrests. Investigators do the work to put cases together. They wear plain clothes.
