Few trends in real life grow exponentially or even linearly. Most of them taper off to flatlining. Consider the possibility this can happen with AI too. For AI to remain successful, they need to grow their customer base. If an increasing part of their customer base loses their jobs, they will at least STOP buying the product. Also, eventually the politicians will start realizing (probably too late) that the less people have jobs, the less taxes they pay.
Factors that will dampen the growth of AI: (1) if AI is going to replace labor, politicians are going to want to tax that 'labor' to offset the loss of employment taxes. (2) The rising price of electricity is unsustainable. AI companies are going to be mandated to provide all of societies power.
If AI is going to lead to some type of UBI, the Democrats will love that, because it will lead to ultimate power if they end of getting control of everyone's income, and we end up with a true Big Brother Government.
