Think guys. A driverless truck cant do a pre-trip inspection. Can it stop when it hits a deer? Where does it stop when there’s damage? Does it change the route to go to the nearest shop? Can it change routes when there’s ice on the road? Where does it stop then? Can a driverless truck refuel itself? Can a driverless truck add oil to the truck? Can a driverless truck move over one lane when there’s a broke down vehicle on the shoulder? Can a driverless truck jumpstart itself when the batteries are bad? Can a driverless truck slide the tandems? Can a driverless truck inspect the cargo when loading? Can a driverless truck strap the cargo or put load locks in the trailer? Can a driverless truck communicate with highway patrol or officers at the weigh station when there’s an inspection or violation? Can a driverless truck inflate its own tires? Add fluids? The answer is of course no. They are not just drivers. They are operators for a reason.
