A rare... accurate video about AI Art. When you think about it really, exploitation of creative work is not something new. But this is by far the worst example yet. From my perspective this is just a culmination of things going worse for years now. The exploitation business model started with stock photos and similar websites. The corporations leverage large pools of talent while they just do the "paperwork", they produce nothing and get a lot of money. How about Adobe and the recent plague of subscription software... the list goes on... AI research is OK. I would go as far as to say that training the systems on everything is fine if nothing generated is used except for research purposes. Using it for commercial purposes 👎, or claiming it as your own work is not 👎. Charging for the service also NOT OK 👎. Things like this should be public domain because they are based on the collective work of humanity. Also "Art" generated by AI should be automatically public domain. On the other hand I think that using AI to mimic historic artists like van Gogh, Picaso etc on your own work should be considered OK because they are not with us anymore and their work is basically world heritage. Using AI to automate laborious tasks in art would be great, the things achievable would be out of this world! But instead it's used as a direct text to image converter which impresses the masses but is actually quite useless to a real artist.
