if AI took all our jobs, humans would largely turn to artistic pursuits. the fact that art has come so far and is such a MASSIVE part of our modern lives is proof that art is a human choice when other issues, like hunger and disease, are largely taken care of. Most people now just live for consumption, and what they consume is art. So in the world of convenience and ease, we either make art or consume it. Miyazaki isn't out there complaining that storyboarding his next movie is tedium that he wishes he didn't have to do. He could have always just been Japanese Business Disney, instead. So once AI takes over all art, and all other jobs, no one will care about those mediums and what they produce, they'll care about what their neighbor made in his now infinite spare time. I think the cycle will just start over again, but maybe more people will get to art. maybe not. maybe we'll all starve to death cuz no jobs and the human brain doesn't brain fast enough to realize what's good for us until woops.
