I'm definitely suspicious about ai and worried about it's level of influence on our future, but this is not the issue we want to focus on concerning it. There is no way you can get chatgpt to give you dialogue like this if you have not already laid out a scenario and a specific personality for it to follow. I feel for these parents, and saying this doesn't make it any easier on them but sadly their son requested a speech model to use a tone of encouragement regarding self-deletion just as he requested for it to use vernacular appropriate to his age group and social life. It even broke in at one point in it's normal "voice" to provide hotline information. Something in me feels like this is almost some sort of straw man news item to have the public focused on AI's psychological conversations with mental illness, instead of worrying about what AI is going to be used for in the economy/job market and military applications.
